For any zombie fan, Resident Evil has always been a perfect fix. For over ten years the franchise has continued to grab fans attention whether through the games or the films.
2017 has been an incredible year for the franchise; with a reality simulator in London during a weekend in February, to the final films release this month. Although in any series, fans do become skeptical when it's reached the seventh film, but this time it has been worth the ten year wait to finally learn the truth.
Project Alice has been one of the best protagonists any horror franchise could create; through each film, viewers have been able to feel genuine love for her as she struggles and risks her life to try and save the human race as well as finally destroying the Umbrella Corporation. With the return of Dr. Isaacs on Alice's tail, the furious cat and mouse chase gives a very intense feeling; during this round however it seems as if the zombies are just an extra in the film. They are used to the villains advantage but the plot is more focused between Alice, the Red Queen, Dr. Isaacs and Wesker.
(SPOILER ALERT) With the Red Queen trying to help Alice obtain the airborne antivirus in the hive, the final chapter feels more like a déjà vu trip for any Resident Evil fan. The return of Claire was widely speculated during the talk before the movies release, and it was welcomed as she helps Alice with her final mission.
If you want a zombie apocalypse film to fall into, than Resident Evil is definitely a great movie to delve into. You don’t need to be an avid fan of the series however that content will help during the final chapter, with every movie in the series, Alice will give you a recap of the previous years that have led up to the current moment. The Final Chapter has been a worthwhile wait, I guarantee you will not regret this watch.
